Powell, whose spotlight was for the most part during the 90s, died at his Los Angeles home on Tuesday, and no reason for death has been given at this point. The news was affirmed by his more youthful sister, Tamara Powell of the R&B team Trina and Tamara. He was 51 years of age.

“It is with overwhelming sadness that we declare the death of our dearest child, brother and uncle Jesse Powell. He died calmly in his Los Angeles home. The family requests protection right now as we grieve the colossal misfortune and commend his never-ending inheritance,” she posted.

She added that Powell cherished music as well as that he had an exceptionally profound friendship for his fans, who upheld him all through his profession too.
